Ismail Tiliwaldi
Ismail Tiliwaldi (Uyghur: ئىسمائىل تىلىۋالدى; Chinese: 司马义•铁力瓦尔地; pinyin: Sīmǎyì Tiělìwà’ěrdì; born October 29, 1944 in Shufu County) was the chairman of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China from 2003 to 2007 and is currently a Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
An Uyghur, Tiliwaldi began working in 1967 and joined the Communist Party of China in May 1973. He graduated from Xinjiang University with a degree in mathematics.
In January 2003, he was elected as chairman of the Xinjiang region at the first session of the tenth Xinjiang People's Congress.
He is an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee, and has been since 2002.

Prior to becoming chairman of the Xinjiang region, Tiliwaldi's postings included deputy chief and chief of the Personnel Department for the Kashgar Prefecture, deputy commissioner of Kashgar, deputy secretary of Kashgar Prefectural Party Committee, commissioner of Kashgar, secretary-general for the Xinjiang Autonomous Regional Government, deputy political commissar of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps of the Army, standing committee member of the CPC Xinjiang Autonomous Regional Committee and deputy secretary of the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs under the CPC Xinjiang Autonomous Regional Committee.
