Island Lakes, Winnipeg

Island Lakes is a neighbourhood in the southeast corner of city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, that was developed by the Ladco Company, which also developed the Winnipeg neighborhoods of Royalwood, Southdale and Windsor Park.
The neighborhood is set up in a curvilinear style typical of new suburbs. Bishop Grandin Boulevard forms the northern border, the Perimeter Highway forms the southern border, Lagimodiere Boulevard forms the eastern border and the CPR Emerson railway tracks form the western border.
Construction began on the neighbourhood in 1981 and by 1985, 150 homes were built. Between 1986 and 1990, construction accelerated and 880 homes were built. [1]
