Isabel Pantoja (Spanish pronunciation: [isaˈβel panˈtoxa]; born August 2, 1956) is a popular contemporary Spanish singer. She is of Romani (Gypsy) origin,[1] born in the Triana district of Seville, Spain. She has released more than a dozen albums throughout a career spanning many decades, and is known for her distinctive Andalusian style.

Biography

She was born in a family of musicians. Both her father and her grandfather were singers.

Her husband, the bullfighter Francisco Rivera Pérez, known professionally as "Paquirri", died in the bullring on 26 September 1984, at the horns of the bull Avispado in Pozoblanco, Córdoba. She has a son with Paquirri named Francisco José Rivera Pantoja, better known as Kiko Rivera or Paquirrín.

Legal problems

Pantoja was arrested in April 2013 by the Spanish police. She is accused of allegedly being an accomplice of her ex-boyfriend Julián Muñoz who is accused of money laundering, bribery among other criminal activities. She was found guilty and condemned to 24 months prison. But she later paid approximately four million euros and Pantoja didn't had to go to prison.[2]
