Irish Citylink is an Ireland based subsidiary company of the Singapore company, ComfortDelGro, which provides bus services between some of Ireland's major cities and towns.
History
The company was established by businessman Jim Burke in 1994,[1] but is now owned by ComfortDelGro.
In 2010, CityLink contracted the running of its bus services to Callinan Coaches while remaining in control of sales and marketing of its routes.[2]
Services
Citylink operates on four routes:
- Galway – Dublin – Dublin Airport (express and normal service).[3]
- Galway – Oranmore – Loughrea – Ballinasloe – Athlone – Tyrellspass – Dublin – Dublin Airport (commuter service).
- Galway – Limerick – Cork – Cork Airport.
- Galway – Cliffden – Cleggan – Letterfrack.
Legal prosecution
In April 2010, CityLink were prosecuted for operating an unlicenced bus service between Dublin and Galway when, in addition to their licenced stopping bus service, they introduced a non-stop service between the two cities. While the District Court judge found that the case against the company had been proven to the required degree, she decided to apply the Probation Act.[4]
