Iota Lyrae (ι Lyr) is a 5th magnitude star in the constellation Lyra, approximately 800 light years away from Earth. It is a bluish white subgiant star of the spectral type B6IV. It therefore possesses a surface temperature of 11,000 to 25,000 kelvins and is larger, brighter, and at least twice as hot in surface temperature as our Sun. It is a B[e] star, meaning it shows prominent forbidden emission lines of hydrogen in its spectrum.[1] It also rotates rapidly, at an uncertain 250 km/s.[2]
