Ione Skye Lee (/ˈni/;[1] born Ione Skye Leitch, September 4, 1970)[2] is a British-American actress who became a teen idol after the 1989 movie Say Anything.... In 2006, VH1 placed her at number 84 on its "100 Greatest Teen Stars" list.[3]

Early life

Skye was born Ione Skye Leitch in Hertfordshire, England, the daughter of folk singer/songwriter Donovan and model Enid Karl (née Stulberger). Her father is Scottish and her mother is an American from a Jewish family.[4] She is the younger sister of Camp Freddy singer Donovan Leitch, who is married to former model Kirsty Hume. Skye was brought up in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Connecticut. She attended Immaculate Heart High School and Hollywood High School for the Performing Arts in 1987.

Career

Skye's best-known performance was as Diane Court in the 1989 film Say Anything... She made her film debut in River's Edge in 1986, and played the title character in The Rachel Papers (1989). In 1992, she played the role of Eleanor Grey on the short-lived TV show Covington Cross and a supporting role in the Stephen La Rocque film Samantha. She also had a small but well-received part in the 2007 David Fincher film Zodiac, and appeared in the music video for the Harvey Danger song "Sad Sweetheart Of The Rodeo."

In a rare interview with mondo-video.com[5] in December 2010, Skye admitted to not paying perfect attention to her career arc over the years, saying she "never struck when the iron was hot" when it came to going after big Hollywood roles in her 20s.

Personal life

For a few years in the 1980s, Skye had a relationship with Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis. Kiedis's 2004 book Scar Tissue contains a nude photo of the couple. Skye was 18 when the picture was taken.

Skye's first husband, Adam Horovitz, is a member of the Beastie Boys.[6] The couple separated in 1995 and divorced in 1999.

Skye had a relationship with furniture designer David Netto and they had a daughter named Kate in December 2001.[6] The family, Skye's home in Hollywood, and Netto's apartment in New York City were featured in the February 2003 issue of Vogue magazine. The two were engaged during their on-again, off-again bi-coastal relationship.[7] Eventually they broke up.

In 2008, Skye became engaged to Australian musician Ben Lee.[8] On December 29, 2008, Skye and Lee were married in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony in India.[9] They have a daughter, Goldie Priya Lee, who was born September 24, 2009.[10]

Skye is also a painter.[11]
