Introducer sheath

An introducer sheath is a surgery tool that consists of a tube that is inserted into the body to provide an access point and allow the insertion of other instruments into an artery.[1] The introducer sheath is used during percutaneous procedures such as angiography, angioplasty and stent placement. After the procedure, the introducer sheath is removed and the puncture site is managed to control bleeding.[2]
