Intrepid Travel is a small group adventure travel company that offers approximately 800 scheduled itineraries in Asia, Latin America, North America, Europe, The Middle East, Africa, Australasia and Antarctica. The company is a division of PEAK Adventure Travel Group , which owns several popular tour companies and realizes annual revenue of over $400 million.

Intrepid trips are of the grassroots type, and include travel via public transport,[1] local food, and locally-owned accommodation.[2]

Intrepid is a carbon-neutral company, as of 2010,[3] reducing greenhouse gas emissions from their offices and trips where possible and offsetting the rest.

History

Founded in 1989, by 2 Australians, Intrepid Travel now takes over 100,000 passengers to over 100 destinations each year, realizing over $130 million in annual revenue,[4] averaging annual compound growth of 25% over the last ten years.[5]

In late 2012, Intrepid Travel appointed James Thornton as Managing Director.
