International School Yangon (ISY) is a private co-educational day school, providing an American and international curriculum from pre-school through Grade 12. The school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)] and offers a college preparatory program, leading to a U.S. diploma. ISY is now an International Baccalaureate Diploma school graduating a select group of between 35-40 students a year.[citation needed] The school is also a member of the South East Asia Student Activities Conference (SEASAC), the East Asia Regional Council Overseas Schools (EARCOS) and is a member school in good standing with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) under accreditation in the United States and worldwide. The school operates as a private school entity in Myanmar (Burma) under the umbrella of the American Embassy. It is an American Embassy sponsored school and receives a small amount of its funding from the Office of Overseas Schools through the US State Department. At the end of the 2011-2012 school year ISY graduated 30 students who went on to study in some of the best schools in the USA including Yale, Stanford, MIT, Columbia, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, Cal Berkley, Northwestern, University of Chicago and many others. The school has fifty-six certified teachers, a director and two principals.
