International Racquetball Tour
The International Racquetball Tour is the professional series that features the world's best racquetball players[citation needed] and the most important pro events, mostly played in the USA.
The International Racquetball Tour, widely recognized as the innovative leader in the racquetball industry,[citation needed] is a 501c7 non-profit entity. The IRT converted to a 501c7 corporation in May 2001 and is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of the Commissioner, 3 players and 3 outside directors.
On November 25, 2009, Dave Negrete resigned as IRT Commissioner, and Jason Mannino became the new Commissioner. Negrete had been Commissioner since 2001. Initially, Mannino continued to play on the tour during the 2009-2010 season as well as serve as commissioner, but retired at the end of that season to concentrate on being the Commissioner. Mannino currently serves as President.[1]
Beginning in the 2010-2011 season, the IRT has changed its service rule so that players get two opportunities to put the ball into play (two serve rule),[2] as in tennis where players are allowed two faults before losing a point. Since the 1990s, the IRT had been using a one serve rule, so a fault serve resulted in an immediate loss of serve.
