International Filmfestival Emden-Norderney is the largest international film festival in Lower Saxony, Germany and takes place in Emden and Norderney every year in June. A prize is awarded in memory of film producer and promoter Bernhard Wicki.

About the festival

With over 100 national and international films it is a major festival for around 22,000 visitors. Additionally, the festival is increasingly developing into a highly regarded meeting place for representatives of the German and North-West European film industry.

British and Irish films

Due to its extensive programme of new British and Irish films, the festival has come to be regarded as a showcase for these productions in Germany. The 2006 festival programme featured films such as Kinky Boots, On A Clear Day and Mrs Henderson Presents.

New German films

This section showcases the very best in new German cinema and features, in the 2006 programme, films such as director Zsolt Bács' Esperanza (with Anna Thalbach, Boris Aljinovic and Proschat Madani), and Torsten C. Fischer's Die Liebeswunsch (with Barbara Auer, Tobias Moretti and Linda de Mol).
