Ilkhchi (Persian: ايلخچي, also Romanized as Īlkhchī; Azerbaijani: İlxçi)[1] is a city in and the capital of Ilkhchi District, in Osku County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 13,927, in 4,014 families.[2]

Ilkhchi is located south east of Tabriz. The main economic activity is agriculture. Almost entire population of the Ilkhchi are followers of Alevi sect of Islam.[citation needed]
