Ilijaš (Илијаш) is a town and municipality located north east of the inner city of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to 1971 population census there were 23,007 residents.

1991

According to 1991 population census there were 25,184 residents.

  • Bosniaks - 10,585 (42.03%)
  • Croats - 1,736 (6.89%)
  • Yugoslavs - 1,167 (4.63%)

Inhabited places

The municipality of Ilijaš is constructed by two parts. A town of Ilijaš and an upper municipality. The town of Ilijaš is completed by several places. The biggest and most urban is the center and it has about 10,000 residents, second is the neighborhood of Misoča, in the Bosnian language known as Naselje Misoča. It is the biggest community in the municipality of Ilijaš with 1500 residents. Ethnically, there is majority of Bosniaks of about 1300 people, 250 are Serbs, 50 are Croats, with none classified as others. Other places, of the municipality of Ilijaš, are Podlugovi, Lješevo, Stari Ilijaš and Malešići.
