Ilemela District is one of the seven districts of the Mwanza Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by the Nyamagana District, to the east by Magu District, to the east and south by Misungwi District and to the west by the Mwanza Gulf of Lake Victoria. Part of the region's capital, the town of Mwanza, is within Ilemela District.[1]

As of 2002, the population of the Ilemela District was 265,911.[2]
