Iglas-located at Aligarh Mathura Road at a distance of 24 km from Aligarh is better known as an education centre for a long time. With the great efforts of Ch. Shivdan Singh (Ex-MLA and father of Late Shri Rajendra Singh) and later on efforts of Late Shri Rajendra Singh (Former Irrigation Minister, UP Govt), it is now a modern education centre. Mr Shivdan Singh had estblaished Jawahar Inter College (Now known as Shivdan Singh Inter College) and Mr rajendra Sing added few more colleges in the list. Iglas is visited by students from almost all sectors of country for education purpose. Apart from large size colleges and engineering colleges, there are plenty of small schools. Students from nearby villages come to study in these schools. There is one inter college exclusively for girls which is being run in old tehsil area. In coming years, it will be shiftd to a new location. One more milestone has been added to this area by Mr Pawan Jain and Mr Mukesh Jain (Aligarh based Industrialists) who have established world class Manglayatan University at Beswan (8 km from Iglas towards Mathura). The university has started many courses but still is under construction. After completion, it is estimated that it would be a university offering a wide number of courses. There are no good number of industries but due to production of potatoes, Iglas has more than 20 number of cold storage centres. Most of them are at Aligarh and Gonda roads. The potato of Iglas is of very good quality and is sent to various part of country. Iglas is one of the Tehsils of Aligarh district. The old tehsil was at a congested place which is called old tehsil area near Shivdan Singh Inter College. The new tehsil has been shifted to a more spacious place at Hathras Road. Iglas has developed in last 20 years to great extent across Aligarh-Mathura Road. However, there is no good development seen on Gonda and Hathras roads. It extends from Karban river (towards mathura) to old canal (towards Aligargh). At a distance of 16 km from Iglas is Hathras city.
