Ifold is a hamlet (place) in West Sussex, even though it is the largest of the four parish settlements, within the Plaistow & Ifold Parish Council [1] area, due to the lack of a Church within the settlement are, unlike it's neighbours, Ifold does not classify as a Village. Ifold as it is today, began in the same way as Durfold Wood where plots of land were sold originally to people who used them as holiday or weekend homes.

Ifold has a community centre, Kelsey Hall, built in 1978 and extended in the 1990s with the help of a lottery grant. The hall hosts a number of weekly activity groups, as well as an annual Arts and crafts fair. In the past few years, the hall has also begun hosting film nights with CineMobile touring cinema.

There is also a Scout Association which has Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies, Guides and Explorer Scouts. The scout hut serves Ifold and the surrounding villages.

History

The Ifold Esate was first divided into plots of land in the 1930s and until around 1953, there was no mains water supply.

Transport

Ifold lies on the 44 bus route of Arriva Bus [2] and route 64 of the Compass Bus Company.[3]
