Ichapur

Ichapur is a village and gram panchayat, near Gobardanga in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal state. It is situated on the bank of Jamuna River, a tributary of Ichamati River.

Administration and Politics

Ichapur is part of the Gaighata community development block in Bangaon subdivision of North 24 Parganas district. Culture

Ichapur is famous for Krishno temple, known as 'Gobindo Mandir'. This temple is more than 300 years old, and is now governed by GSI. Every year at the time of 'HOLI', Village celebrate 'Mela' in front of temple, which continues for 7 days. 'Mela' is accompanied by Theater by local people.

Ichapur village has a very rich cultural backbone. Local clubs organize different cultural programs. 'Friends club', 'Sripur Dishari', 'Boys club' are most awakening in the area. They arrange different cultural and social program like rabindrajaynti, 15th august-Independence day, and blood donation camp.

Economy

Village has a very rich market place known as "Netaji Bazar".
