Ian Toynton

Ian Toynton (born 1946) is a British television director, producer and editor.

His most notable work has been on The O.C., on which he served as director, supervising producer and co-executive producer for a number of episodes. He has both directed and produced episodes of the series Bones, The Pretender, Minder and Red Fox. In 2003, he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the 24 episode "Day 2: 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.". Some of his other directorial work includes Crossing Jordan, Nowhere Man, The Chinese Detective and Providence.

He has also worked in editing, mostly in sound editing and dubbing, for shows such as Quatermass, Van der Valk, The Sweeney and Sweeney 2. His only writing credit is an episode of Relic Hunter, for which he has also directed ten episodes.

He was educated at Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, Cricklewood and Elstree.
