Ian Hyland

Ian Hyland (born 23 September 1969, brought up in Chesterfield, Derbyshire) is an English television critic.

Journalism career

Hyland wrote a column for the Sunday Mirror from 2000 to 2005. Until 2011 closure of the newspaper, he wrote for the News of the World. He currently writes for the Daily Mirror, having returned there after a spell with the Daily Mail. He has been billed as "the TV critic with the widescreen mouth" due to his outspoken, self-assertive style.

Television

Hyland appeared on Five's The Wright Stuff as a regular guest from 2003 to 2005. He returned to the show in April 2010 appearing every Friday to preview television programmes for the week ahead[1] before being replaced by Kevin O'Sullivan.

He has also appeared on This Morning and various TV nostalgia and retrospective documentaries.

Personal life

Hyland is married to journalist Lynne Smith.
