Ian Gomez (born December 27, 1964).[1] is an American actor best known for his comedic TV work, the most notable of which are his series-regular stints as Javier on Felicity and Andy on Cougar Town.
Early life
He was born in New York City, New York to an artist father and a dancer mother.[1]
Career
On The Drew Carey Show he played Larry Almada, a co-worker of Drew's at Winfred-Louder. He has also worked with Drew Carey on the show Whose Line is it Anyway?. In 2002 he starred in Alanis Morissette's "Hands Clean" music video. On Curb Your Enthusiasm he played the "bald chef," who Larry hired to cook in the restaurant he owned with Jeff Greene, Ted Danson, Michael York, and Hugh Mellon. From 1998-2002, he played Javier Clemente Quintata on the hit WB show Felicity. In April 2006 Gomez appeared on Reba as a therapist in an episode called "Here We Go Again". He was recently in ABC's Jake in Progress, starring John Stamos, and appeared in the fourth episode of Lost's third season, "Every Man for Himself". He plays Andy Torres in the ABC and later TBS comedy Cougar Town alongside fellow Drew Carey Show castmate Christa Miller.
Personal life
He is married to actress-writer Nia Vardalos of My Big Fat Greek Wedding fame; the two can be seen together in the film Connie and Carla. Gomez is of Puerto Rican and Russian Jewish descent, and converted to the Greek Orthodox Church upon marrying Vardalos, which is mirrored as a plot element in Wedding. In 2008, the two adopted a little girl.[2][3][4]
