Iain Lees-Galloway (born 18 September 1978), initially Iain Galloway, is a politician from New Zealand. Since the 2008 general election, he has represented the Palmerston North electorate in Parliament for the Labour Party, succeeding Steve Maharey.
Early life
Lees-Galloway was born on 18 September 1978[1] in Auckland where he attended Kings College. He moved to Palmerston North to study at Massey University where he was president of the Massey University Students' Association in 2005. His parents, who are beef farmers, are firm National Party supporters.[2]
Professional life
Following his term as student president, Lees-Galloway worked for the New Zealand Nurses Organisation as an organiser and subsequently publicity coordinator.[2]

In September 2010, his Smoke-free Environments (Removing Tobacco Displays) Amendment Bill was drawn from the member's ballot.[3][4] As of October 2011, the bill is still awaiting its first reading.[5]
Lees-Galloway was confirmed in the 2011 election with a majority increased from 1,117 in 2008 to 3,285 in the latest election.[6][7] Currently he is the Labour Party's junior whip, spokesperson for ACC and associate health spokesperson.
Private life
Lees-Galloway is married with children.[1]
