History

  • 1999

Hypnos was based in 1999 by ex-members of Krabathor bass guitarist and singer Bronislav "Bruno" Kovařík and drummer Peter "Pegas" Hlaváč. Name of the band is inspired by the same named song by Austrian legend Pungent Stench. Later that year guitarist Radek "RAD" Lebánek joined the band and they were ready to record first EP called Hypnos. It was released in 2000 by German label Morbid Records. 2000 copies were sold in less than 3 years.

  • 2000

Line-up changes followed soon and RAD left the band. He was replaced by other ex-member of Krabathor René "Hire" Hílek and second guitarist Igor Mores. These four recorded true death metal masterpiece and first Hypnos full-length album In Blood We Trust released also by Morbid Records. About 7000 copies were sold. Special guest was Mika Luttinen, singer of Finnish metal band Impaled Nazarene. Both guitarists left the band and were replaced by David Menšík. Hypnos also participated on X-mass festivals.

  • 2001-2003

Next year Hypnos released second full-length album The Revenge Ride. It was recorded in German studio Spiderhouse and mastered in legendary Morrisound on Florida, producer was Harris Johns who cooperates also with bands like Sodom, Voivod, Sepultura, Helloween, Tankard. 5000 copies of The Revenge Ride were sold. Hypnos also played on big festival With Full Force in Germany. Later that year other change of guitarist brings ex-member of DMC Milan "Butch Mills" Večerka to the band and Hypnos was able to tour Europe and join stages on festivals like Party San or Summer Breeze.

  • 2004

Third studio album Rabble Manifesto was recorded under wings of Harris Johns in Spiderhouse again and mastering was made by ex-guitarist Igor Mores. It was released in 2005.

  • 2005

Drummer "Pegas" left the band due to his family reasons and was replaced by ex-Amortez drummer Peter Bajci. This year Hypnos was nominated for award Anděl in category "Hard & Heavy" that was finally won by Ador Dorath.

  • 2006

Bruno disbanded Hypnos in January 2006 due to lack of time and motivation.

  • 2009-2010

Bruno and Pegas started rehearsing again to prepare new stuff for MCD Halfway to Hell released by Crystal Productions in 2010. Guitarist Igorr(bass guitarist of Root) joined the band and Hypnos played comeback concert on Brutal Assault Festival 2010.

  • 2011-2012
