Hurffville School

Hurffville Elementary School is one of the oldest schools in the Washington Township Public School District in Washington Township, in Gloucester County, New Jersey. Built in 1957, Hurffville was designed as an open-air environment school. The school originally housed kindergarten through 6th grades, but as population increased, it was reduced to 2nd through 6th and then 1st through 5th grades. In 1988, the school had hallways installed.

The school received New Jersey's "Governor's School of Excellence" award in 2005.[1]

Hurffville is located in the Hurffville district of Washington Township. It borders the development of Wedgewood Farms and is on Hurffville-Grenloch Road and Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, near Chestnut Ridge Middle School.

Hurffville school chorus students won the B101 competition in 2011, and received a check. The music teacher at the school bought a colorful new rug for the music room, which the students, ages 6–12 were delighted about. Also, Hurffville school has won many awards in its past. The classes of Physical education, Art, Music, Library, and Computers rotate each week. Different classes in different grades are assigned specific days of the week and times to go to these classes.

An advanced curriculum program is available for those children who meet the requirements. This program is called TAG, short for talented and gifted.
