Hugh McLaughlin (born 16 July 1909) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne and Footscray in the VFL during the 1930s.

McLaughlin was a gutsy half back flanker and was a key premiership player with South Melbourne in the 1933 side. He played 96 games with the bloods as well as representing Victoria at interstate football. His son who was also named Hugh was one of the toughest back pocket players who went on to play 116 games for South Melbourne and also represented Victoria at interstate level.
