Hot Tamales
Hot Tamales is a cinnamon candy manufactured by the Just Born in the USA. They are shaped like Mike and Ike candies and were introduced in 1950. Their name refers to their pungency, using the name of the tamale, which can be spicy.
In addition to the hot and spicy flavor, there is also Hot Tamales Fire (originally Super Hot Hot Tamales) which is more intense than the original, a darker red in color, and less opaque. A spearmint version was available in the late 2000s called Hot Tamales Ice, but is now discontinued.
In 2011, Just Born released Hot Tamales "3 ALARM" containing three different colored candies mixed in each box. Orange = Hot, Pinkish-Red = Hotter and Dark Red = Hottest. The description reads: "HOT TAMALES 3 ALARM explodes with three intense spicy cinnamon flavors that deliver increasing levels of heat - hot, hotter and hottest." The 3 ALARM slogan used was: "Fire up your taste buds and get ready to scream for more!"
In 2012 Just Born released another new flavor Hot Tamales Tropical Heat containing three different spicy tropical flavors. Limon Fever, Mango Tango and Pineapple Picante.
