Hosur Aerodrome (IATA: VO95) is a private airfield located at Belagondapalli, 10 Kilometres southwest of Hosur, Tamil Nadu, India.
The airfield is owned by Taneja aerospace and aviation Limited (TAAL), established in 1994 as the first private sector company to manufacture General Aviation aircraft in India. TAAL uses the airfield for its Aircraft Manufacturing, Sales and MRO businesses. This aerodrome is approved and licensed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation under private use category. The aerodrome complex also houses MRO facilities of Air Works India [1] and widebody aircraft painting facilities of Air Livery.[2]
Structure
Hosur Aerodrome has one asphalt runway, oriented 09/27, 7012 feet long and 150 feet wide, capable of accepting Airbus A-320 and Boeing 737 aircraft and has night landing facilities. Navigational aids at Hosur include PAPI lights and an Aerodrome beacon. It has an apron measuring 110 X 90 metres for Jet Aircraft and another one measuring 40 x 19 metres for Turboprop and Light Aircraft. [3] A hangar is under construction to accommodate wide bodied aircraft's like Airbus 330 and Boeing 777.
Airlines and destinations
Hosur aerodrome is not certified for commercial air service, however many Indian carriers notably SpiceJet, GoAir and Jet Airways aircraft land at Hosur to use the facilities of Air Works Ltd. for their 'C' checks, 1200 hours inspections and for painting done by Air Livery.
Hosur aerodrome also offers landing and parking services for private aircraft, many such operators land here frequently owing to the huge industrial background of the city.The airport is expected to start expansion in 2013 to accept Boeing 777 series aircraft with the B777 wide bodied aircraft hangar under construction.
Hangars
There are two existing hangars at the aerodrome used by MRO service providers TAAL and Airworks for General Aviation and Civil aviation aircraft respectively. The Airworks hangar is capable of accommodating one Airbus 321 or a Boeing 737-800 or two ATR-72's, however the new hangar which is nearing completion can accommodate one wide bodied aircraft or two narrow bodied aircraft inside.
