Hostile Ambient Takeover is the fourteenth album by Melvins, which was released in 2002 through Ipecac Recordings. The album represents a transitional period for the band and yet the release is highly regarded by its fan base. The album's vinyl release consists of seven 7" singles that include exclusive B-sides, which are mostly covers (except for "The Anti-Vermin Seed" which consumes both sides of its single). The exclusive B-sides are "Foaming" (Fast Version), "Return of Spiders" (Alice Cooper), "Jerkin' Krokus" (Mott The Hoople), "Promise Me" (Gun Club), "Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World" (Ramones), "Arnie" (Warlock Pinchers), and "White Kids On Dope" (The Tubes). Each single was limited to 2,500 pressings.
