Hosadurga is a panchayat town in Chitradurga district in the Indian state of Karnataka.
Geography
Hosadurga is located in Karnataka, India.[3] It has an average elevation of 739 meters (2424 feet).
Demographics
As of the 2011 India census,[4] Hosadurga had a population of 28,370. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Hosadurga has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 70%. In Hosadurga, 12% of the population is under seven years of age.
Economy and Industrialization
Agriculture is one of the mainstays of this region. Hosadurga has deposits of limestone, manganese and bauxite ores.
Coconuts are found in abundance and their tree has been a unique quality of this region. Coconut based industries (Coconut Oil extraction, Coconut Coir etc.) are produced here.
Minerals
Many minerals like iron ore, manganese and dolomite are found here. This area has the potential to be a steel manufacturing zone as many iron ore mines are located here.
Ramco Cement Factory is situated in Mathodu Village of the Hosadurga Taluk.[5] It is the only factory in Hosadurga Taluk
Famous places
Sri Matta Sanehalli
This remote village in central Karnataka houses a theatre institute, and its Repertory company takes out shows to towns and cities across Karnataka every year. A branch of the Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmath is located here. Sri. Panditaradya Swamiji is the head of the Matt. The Shivasanchara Drama Company was founded by him. The pontiff is a playwright of some merit, and produces theatre students describe as morality plays, but he is better known as an enlightened supporter of theatre education.
In the first week of November Shivasanchara performs at Sanehalli.
Sanehalli is about five hours by road from Bangalore. It can be reached via the Mumbai highway. There are reports of a collapsed bridge on this route and it now takes eight hours from Bangalore.
Sri Kanchivarada Raja Swamy Temple
Kanchipura is a small village in Hosadurga Taluk. Walking seven kilometers towards the eastern side of this village on a road that passes by the village Kittadhal and Kanubevuhalli one will come across widespread mountain ranges covered with greenery. Among them is the mountain called "varadadhri", where the left born deity Varadharaja swamy’s temple is situated.
Baguru
One of the historical place located 10 km away from Hosadurga. Where you can find one Ancient (Cholas regime) Temple called Sri Prasanna Channa Keshva Swamy. It has a beautiful chariot, and other various ancient idols. You can also find Tamil Gounders in this place, these people good in agriculture and fishing. Baguru was derived by "BAGHYAPURI". There are "101 temples" as well as "101 wells" in the bagur spread area.
There is a village called Kadvinakatte near Baguru, you will find a very good temple of Sri Lord Anjeneya (Hanuman). This village is also known as " Sannakki Baguru" reason is that from long years back this village produce small rice in larger amount. Now some of temples we seen toady 1.Sri Prasanna Chennakeshava Swamy temple. 2.sri jeevi prana devaru Anjaneys swamy. 3.Sri Parappa swamy temple. 4.sri mahasathi Ammanavaru. 5.Sri masiyamma devi. 6.Sri Antharagatte Durgamba temple. 7.sri Bootheshwara temple. 8.sri 7 koti Mylara Lingeshwara. 9. sri Panduranga vittala. 10. sri Gullamma devi... and many more In dasara fest there is 3 day celebrations held i9n this village after ayudha pooja . And there is fair held in month of march every year i.e., in holi hunnime called "SRI PRASANNA CHENNAKESHAVA RATHOTSHAVAM". This temple has culture like BELUR CHENNA KESHAVA TEMPLE. In this village famous fest for non-veg is "GULLAMANA BANA" celebrate in Tuesday in the month of December i.e., one month after Diwali
Bhageerata Peeta
This famous pilgrim center is situated at Bramha Vidyanagara, which is near Hosadurga town. The matt is headed by Sri Sri Sri Purushothamanada Puri Mahaswamiji. The Matt runs various educational institutions, conducts Mass Marriage programs and cultural activities for poor and the downtrodden.
Dasharatha Rameshwara
This famous place considered holy by many is also known as "Vajra". According to Indian Epic Ramayana, Shravana was killed by King Dasharatha. As a mark of repentance, King Dasharatha installed and worshipped a Shiva Linga with his son Rama, which is therefore called as Dasharatha Rameshwara. This place is surrounded by natural beauty.

- Durgamma Temple , Veerabhadreshwara Temple of the Hosadurga Town are the famous holy places.
- Kellodu
River Vedavathi flows through the taluk to get bridged at Mari Kanive dam, The river is one of the main source for drinking water for the town of Hosadurga. At kellodu the water supply department has its facility to pump and distribute water to the Hosadurga town.
- Hosadurga Fort
There is a fort on top of the hill in Hosadurga, historians say there is underground tunnel connection between Chitradurga and Hosadurga Forts. ″
