Hon-Shiogama Station

Hon-Shiogama Station (本塩釜駅 Hon-Shiogama-eki) is a JR East railway station located in Shiogama, Miyagi.

History

  • April 14, 1926: Station begins operation as Hon-Shiogama Station. (本塩釜駅)
  • May 1, 1944: Station is nationalized and changes its kanji to the traditional form of Shiogama, although the name Hon-Shiogama Station remains. (本塩竈駅)
  • May 25, 1963: Station changes kanji back to original. (本塩釜駅)
  • November 1, 1981: The station is moved to its present location and a double elevated track station.
  • April 1, 1987: With the commercialization of Japan National Railways, it becomes a JR East station.
