Homestead Technologies is the owner and operator of a paid web hosting service based in Redwood City, California. It has existed in various forms since launching in 1998 as a free service. Since then, it has expanded to include WYSIWIG site building tools, online marketing and e-commerce services.[1]
Homestead Technologies was also home to Photosite, a web hosting service tailored to amateur digital photography. In March 2005, Photosite was sold to United Online.[2]
On November 26, 2007, it was announced that Homestead would be purchased by Intuit in a cash transaction valued at roughly $170 million.[3]
On August 16, 2012, it was announced that Homestead would be purchased by Endurance International Group.[4]
