Homafaran

The Homafar was an officer rank in the Iranian Air Force and Iran's Army Aviation from 1968 to 1988. Majority of "Homafar" personnel were trained in the United States before the Islamic revolution of 1979. These were highly trained personnel that had the responsibility to maintain and repair American made equipment of the Imperial Iranian Air Force.
Elements of these joined the revolution in 1978-1979.
The rank was later discarded and they were given regular army or air force ranks by late 1980s.
