Hiten Tejwani (born March 5, 1974) is an Indian television actor from Mumbai, India best known for his portrayal Karan Virani in Ekta Kapoor's Path-braking Indian soap opera Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that ran for more than 8 years on Star Plus. Since 2011, he is playing the role of Manav Deshmukh in yet another Ekta Kapoor's most popular soap Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV.

Early life

Tejwani was born on March 5, 1974 in Mumbai, to a cloth merchant father and a home maker mother. He has two younger brothers named Hitesh and Nitin. Hitesh is a director, having directed shows like Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Ek Ladki Anjaani Si whereas his younger brother Nitin is an editor.[1] He was educated at Saint Francis D'Assisi High School and then at the Jai Hind College, when he joined the Ankur Theatre Group.[2]

Hiten Tejwani is married to his co-star Gauri Pradhan Tejwani from Kutumb and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi On April 29, 2004. Hiten and Gauri became parents to twins daughter Katya and son Nevaan on November 11, 2009.[3]

Career

Tejwani played a role in Ekta Kapoor's serial Ghar Ek Mandir which was aired on Sony TV. This was followed by raining of Ekta's soaps like Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii on Metro Gold and Kaahin Kissii Roz on Star Plus, Kutumb on Sony TV. His chemistry with Gauri Pradhan, his co-star was well appreciated by audience that the channel and production House decided to bring back second season of the show with same leads and also the producer Ekta Kapoor took the same couple in her Top Show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. After Kutumb ended, he was offered the role of illegitimate child of Mihir Virani in Ekta Kapoor's Path breaking Top Show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as Karan Virani on Star Plus.His performance was well appreciated by the audiences and critics that made him won most awards of his career. In 2009, after his most successful stint ended in the show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, along with the show, he along with his wife also made a short cameo in another successful show of Star Plus Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan.

In the year 2009 and 2010, he also played small or supporting roles in the shows Jasuben Jayantilaal Joshi Ki Joint Family and Kitani Mohabbat Hai on Imagine TV, Palampur Express on Sony TV, Choti Bahu on Zee TV and Rang Badalti Odhani on STAR One.

In the year 2011, he also made his presence felt in Mukti Bandhan as Vivek Oberoi where he played the Antagonist.Later the year, he was approached once again by Ekta Kapoor to step into the shoes of the lead actor of Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV. Tejwani's performance was praised by Critics and also was well accepted by audience that made him nominated for Best Actor in Lead Role at Zee Rishtey Awards, The Global Indian Film and TV Honours, 5th Boroplus Gold Awards, 11th Indian Telly Awards and 12th Indian Television Academy Awards.He also made a small cameo and later he re-entered as lead role in Ekta Kapoor's Kya Huaa Tera Vaada where he portrayed the role of Jatin Choprahe also was in a Sri Lankan telly which was named "Pooja" Hiten played the role of a doctor in it.
