History (Korean: 히스토리) is a five-member boy group from South Korea formed by LOEN Entertainment. Due to LOEN's multi-label system, they are currently under LOEN Tree.[1] History is an alternative group which debuted on April 26, 2013 with their debut single Dreamer featuring the narration of their fellow labelmate IU. History is known as the very first boy group of LOEN Entertainment.
History
Pre-debut
History members were said to be trained together for almost two years by the agency, but every member have been in the entertainment industry before becoming part of the group. Leader and lead vocalist Kyungil is a model and known as a member of the famous group of friends called "Nuthang Crew" which includes famous idols such as Big Bang members G-Dragon and T.O.P, and also famous actor Lee Soo-hyuk.[2] He is also a dancer during IU's Cruel Fairy Tale performances and also starred as IU's love interest in her first Japanese mini-album, "Can You Hear Me?" title track, Beautiful Dancer.[3]
Member and main vocalist Dokyun was a member of famous Rock band "Buzz", which he joined in as a duo in 2011 under the stage name Nayul and participated in two albums.[4] He also sang the OST for the Korean Drama Love Rain entitled "Because It's You".[5] Member and main rapper Sihyoung is a famous ulzzang and had many media appearances, namely on "Comedy TV's Ulzzang Generation - Season 3", and even had a fanbase before his debut as a History member.[6]
Member and lead rapper Jaeho is a model and also known for appearing as a backdancer on his labelmates' performances, such as IU and co-ed group Sunny Hill. Member and main vocalist Yijeong is known to be the most popular member in History's pre-debut history due to him being known for his vocals and appearing as one of the finalists in "MBC's Birth Of A Great Star - Season 2". Yijeong is the most popular member in history before debut and after debut he's known for his vocals in MBC Birth of a Great Star 2.
Debut
On April 13, 2013, LOEN Entertainment uploaded a video titled "Do you know us?" (우리 알지 않아요? Uli alji anhayo?) on its YouTube channel, starring IU. The video ended with this message: "HISTORY begins on 2013.04.26 (April 26, 2013) - LOEN Entertainment".[7][8] then the group released a video teasers for each member about "Dating tips" featuring their label-mate Jei of Fiestar
On April 26, History released its debut single "Dreamer", along with its MV. The MV starred Son Dam-bi and had narrations from IU.[9]
Subsequent events
On August 20, 2013, the group released its debut EP, Just Now.
2014-present
On first of January member Yijeong guested in Sukira radio and revealed that History's upcoming comeback will be self-composed\production. [10]
