Higashi-Kawaguchi Station (東川口駅 Higashi-Kawaguchi-eki) is a railway station in Kawaguchi, Saitama, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and the Saitama Railway.

Lines

Higashi-Kawaguchi Station is served by the following two lines.

Station layout

There are two sections at this station. The JR section consists of an elevated island platform.

Platform 1 serves trains to Minami-Urawa, Nishi-Kokubunji and Fuchū-Hommachi. Platform 2 serves trains to Minami-Koshigaya, Shim-Matsudo, Nishi-Funabashi, Tokyo, and Kaihin-Makuhari.

The Saitama Rapid Railway section consists of an underground island platform. There are orange platform screen doors. Platform 1 serves Urawa-Misono bound trains. Platform 2 serves trains to Hatogaya, Akabane-Iwabuchi, Meguro (via the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line) and Hiyoshi (via the Tokyu Meguro Line).

History

The JR East Station was one of the original stations on the Japanese National Railways (JNR) Musashino Line, which opened on April 1, 1973. It became an interchange station when the Saitama Rapid Railway opened on March 28, 2001.
