Higashi-Aomori Station (東青森駅 Higashi Aomori-eki) is a joint use railway station on the Aoimori Railway Line for passenger services, and for Japan Freight Railway Company for freight services. It is located in the city of Aomori, Aomori Prefecture Japan. It is 5.8 rail kilometers from the terminus of the Aoimori Railway Line at Aomori Station.

History

Higashi-Aomori Station was opened on July 21, 1968 as a station on the Japan National Railways (JNR) when the Tōhoku Main Line was re-routed to the south of the downtown areas of the city. The surroundings were initially open farmland, so a freight depot was also developed. The station building has been unattended since November 1986. With the privatization of the JNR on April 1, 1987, it came under the operational control of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). A large shopping complex was opened next to the station in November 2003. The section of the Tōhoku Main Line including this station was transferred to Aoimori Railway on December 4, 2010.
