Hermes & Renato
"Hermes & Renato" was comedy show broadcast by MTV Brazil in which was created the (fake) comedy heavy metal band Massacration, which acquired a huge success in Brazil. It's played by the actors Marco Antônio (Hermes), Fausto Fanti (Renato), Adriano Pereira, Bruno Alexandre, Felipe Fagundes and Gil Brother.
Famous characters/attractions of the show:
Characters
Gil Brother: Once homeless, Jaime Gil da Costa, also known as Gil Brother, was invited to be in Hermes & Renato crew to make a dancer called Gil Brother. His dancing style is similar to late 1970s break dancing. Gil uses a lot of bad language, and was made famous exactly for this exaggerated number of cursing words. By having no adequate education, some words are spoken wrong, like laptop, spoken as "Lac Toc". He's considered by his fans a Master.
Hermes & Renato: The original (and originally only) attraction of the show is this, in which two guys, Hermes and Renato, get in troubles in every episode, ending in an unexpected way. The characters are a parody of pornochanchada (Sexploitation movies made mostly in the 1970s and 1980s in Brazil) and also the common kind of pimps. They've already tried to make money in every way, playing cards, winning a poetry contest, opening a butcher shop selling cat meat, as masons, as pet-caring Gil Brother's bird (and ended up killing the poor animal) lending money from Gil Brother (and paying with ham), etc.
Joselito: He is an extreme prankster. All of his pranks end up in tragedy. He seems as if he's the only one having fun with his jokes. His last name is "Sem Noção", which means "clueless" in English. His jokes are always jokes of poor taste.
Boça: He lives with his grandmother, loves old video games and dresses as if he were a child, despite being 32 years old and speaks in a heavy paulista accent. He's a parody of a personality style that is, most times, attached to geek–nerd.
Massacration: A metal band joking the common stereotype of metal bands, where the vocal always needs to scream with a pretty shrill voice, and every other member needs to use leather black clothes. Massacration's name was later joked to be an adaptation of the restaurant where the band played the most before fame, the "Massas Crezio", "Crezio's Pastas" or something like it.
Cláudio Ricardo: A parody of João Kléber, Gugu Liberato and some other known announcers, Cláudio Ricardo is a quack announcer doing everything to be famous, and he's constantly hosting his Cláudio Ricardo Show and giving interviews after leaving Rehab.
Attractions
O Palhaço Gozo (Gozo, the clown): This is a parody of Bozo the Clown. His fictional TV program is full of sexual references and double meanings. "Gozo" means "ejaculation" in Brazilian Portuguese, and "fun" in European Portuguese.
Drops Away News: A news show where the special reporter, the "Away" from Petrópolis, played by Gil Brother, comments subjects from recent events, using an extremely high number of bad-language words and ironic thoughts. Has a little knife, called "Lambida", "the lick" in English, and always threatens people with it, in phrases like "I'll give a lick in your necks" licking the knife right after. Famous for screaming "Away!" in the end of his comments.
Chapa Quente : Parody of the kind of news program played by Luiz Carlos Alborghetti, or his apprentice Ratinho, where they commented the news and destroyed half the scenario while doing it. The announcer, Bradock, spends the show making merchandising, complaining about his production's mistakes, beating them because of the mistakes, cursing and beating the table with a club like Alborghetti did in his last shows. "Chapa Quente" is a term used when a situation is pretty hard.
Romaria: A mixture between a Greek tragedy and a Mexican soap opera.
Jegueass: A parody of Jackass, but with ideas far more stupid, like playing with Sulfuric acid. "Jegue" means "donkey" but is used in Brazil to describe a Jackass person.
Programa do Mal (Evil Program): A parody of a show where the announcers are all mythical figures related to evil, plus a parody of the "Bandido da Luz Vermelha" (a Brazilian Criminal that, while doing his crimes, cut the house energy, put a handkerchief in the mouth and used a flashlight with red lights. His name means, and came from Red Light Bandit, but they're not the same person). They usually show stuff related to voodoo rituals, and threatening people that destroys voodoo offerings (one of them being the Bandido itself...). In another episode, they end up beating one of the entities because it said it was in the world to put people's sons in Hemp. They replied "Wait a little... You're not Evil... You're a drug dealer!!!"
Linhares e sua turma (Linhares and his gang): Linhares, Pereira and Lacerda are lazy and corrupt cops from Rio de Janeiro. Instead of putting criminals under arrest, they end up making pacts with them, and putting innocent citizens under arrest instead. Their best friend is a Drug Dealer called X9, and their boss, Deputy Falcão, is as corrupt as them, but being in a superior position, end up abusing of the three. They use their ranks to do stupid stuff, like racing their cars, negating assistance to a hit person, just to get in time to see their soccer game in a pub with their boss and the dealer X9. X9 is also a slang meaning informer in drug dealing language.
Documento Trololó (Trololó Document): A documentary show that specializes in strange phenomena, like paranormal quacks, people with extremely huge noses, covering the life of professional whores, etc. Trololó is a term used for when someone speaks a lot, but says nothing useful.
Cozinha do Brother (Brother's Kitchen): Gil Brother is now a world renowned chef with a culinary show, where he'll cook exotic dished like "Onioned Mousse with Pig Paste Cream", or "Tail of a Fox in love". Away also uses his name written in a different way: he's now called AWEY.
Tolerância Mil (Thousand Tolerance): With a pretty comic English accent, Hermes & Renato crew jokes programs like "The Best Police Pursuits", but instead of being law enduring officers, they play slack ones, the kind that seeing a murder in front of them, tells the murderer that if he does so again he may receive an advertence.
O Proxeneta (The Pimp): One of the two soap operas from the crew, O Proxeneta told the history of a business man who suffered a car accident and entered a comma, his family and business partners, trying to take his money, of a gay living in a favela and trying to find a boyfriend, a boy who got addicted in drinking coffee and smoking cashews, and it's drug dealer, Gildo (played by Gil Brother).
Sinhá Boça: The second soap opera, it detailed the life of Boça, when he entered a college, but his grandmother, Ms. Lourdes, got under arrest, and he needs the help of his lawyer and law professor, Gilmar (also played by Gil Brother). This soap opera has one of the funniest lawyers talks ever, and also was the beginning of known phrases like "You were raised with Milk'n'Pear Vitamine and Ovomaltino on the fridge!!!", Ovomaltino being a mispronunciation of Ovomaltine, a Chocolate drink brand in Brazil. "Sinhá" is the reduction of "Senhora", mistress, used by slaves in Brazil's past, and the "Sinhá Boça" name is the parody of a soap opera called Sinhá Moça.
Tela Class (Class Screen): After the rising of Internet and the dig up of a re-dub of a Batman series episode, with the lines filled with bad language and given the new name of "Feira da fruta" ("Fair Fruit", also the name of a Carnival March), the re dubs turned into a fever in Brazil. Hermes & Renato crew also did they own re dub series with bad language and comic names, some relating to the movies original names, like "As tretas de Hong Kong" (Hong Kong's Bullshits) to parody "As tríades de Hong Kong" (translated as Hong Kong's Triads, original name: 4 Robbers) or "Memórias de um ninja Lóki", "Memories of a 'Krazy' Ninja" to parody "Guerras Ninja" (translated as Ninja Wars II, original name: Ninja Death II). Some of the movies had special guests, such as the singer Falcão, the hoster João Gordo, from Brazilian's MTV, and the comedian Tom Cavalcante. "Tela Class" is a parody of the rather stupid names Brazil's TV Networks usually put in names sessions, but specially to the older of them, "Tela Quente", "Hot Screen".
