Herbert R. Waite is an American business executive and political figure who served as Chairman of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee from February to September 1971.

Waite joined New England Power Company in 1954 as a member of their public information department. In 1960 he was promoted to director of public information. He was promoted again in 1970, this time to Vice President. Prior to working at New England Power, Waite was a sales promotion assistant at Naragansett Electric.[1]

Waite, with the support of Governor Francis W. Sargent and Senator Edward Brooke,[2] was elected Chairman of the Republican State Committee on February 8, 1971.[3] He resigned seven months later for "personal reasons".[4]

After his resignation, Waite worked as a bank lobbyist.[5]
