Herbert Jefferson Jr. (born 28 September 1946 in Sandersville, Georgia, U.S.A.), raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, and adopted by The City of New York, is an African-American Film, Television, and Stage actor. He graduated with honors from New York's American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1969. He is probably best known for his role as Lieutenant Boomer on the original Battlestar Galactica television series.[1] Later, in the 1980 spin-off Galactica 1980, his character had moved up in the chain of command, becoming Colonel Boomer, Executive Officer of the Galactica . He also starred in the 1976 ABC Network Novel for Television Mini-Series "Rich Man,Poor Man", Books I and II, as Nick Nolte's friend and business partner, merchant seaman Roy Dwyer .

Mr. Jefferson also appeared in the pilot episode of NBC's Knight Rider (1982) as Munsie, an undercover police officer (who is murdered) and partner of Michael Long (who becomes Michael Knight). He also portrayed a news reporter in the Ron Howard film Apollo 13 and a doctor in Wolfgang Petersen's Outbreak (1995). In 2007 he played Captain Gault, a freedom fighter, in the Star Trek internet mini series Of Gods and Men.
