Henry Schein Inc. is the world's largest distributor of healthcare products and services to office-based dental, medical, and animal health practitioners.[1][2] The company also serves dental laboratories, government and institutional health care clinics, and their alternate care sites. A Fortune 500 company and a member of the NASDAQ 100 Index, Henry Schein employs nearly 16,000 Team Schein Members and serves approximately 800,000 customers. The company is a Fortune World’s Most Admired Company[3] and is ranked number one in its industry for social responsibility.[4]

Henry Schein operates through a centralized and automated distribution network, with a selection of more than 96,000 national and Henry Schein private-brand products in stock, as well as more than 110,000 additional products available as special-order items.

The company also sells practice management software and e-commerce solutions, as well as financial services.

Headquartered in Melville, New York, Henry Schein has operations or affiliates in 25 countries, including the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China,[5] the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mauritius, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand and the United Kingdom[2]

History

In 1932, Henry Schein borrowed $500 and opened a pharmacy in Queens, New York. Schein and his wife, Esther, grew their small pharmacy into a FORTUNE 500 company, the largest distributor of healthcare products and services to office-based practitioners.[2] The company now serves approximately 240,000 health practices through operations or affiliates in 21 countries outside of North America.[6]

Established in 2008, Henry Schein Cares Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, works to foster, support, and promote dental, medical, and animal health by helping to increase access to care for communities around the world.[8]
