The Helmeted Friarbird (Philemon buceroides) is a species of bird in the Meliphagidae family.
Distribution and habitat
It is found in Indonesia and northern Australia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
Taxonomy
The subspecies P. b. yorki from the Cape York Peninsula and coastal north-eastern Queensland is sometimes considered a full species, as is the New Guinea Friarbird, P. b. novaeguineae.
