Heavy Mettle is a fictional team of supervillains in the Marvel Universe.

Fictional organization history

Joseph Manfredi formed Heavy Mettle and began their association by ordering Firestrike to obtain Turbo's costume.[1] Heavy Mettle attacks the New Warriors; they are defeated but escape.[2] Nova disguises himself as Firestrike, who helps the New Warriors set up Heavy Mettle. Heavy Mettle is defeated and sent to jail, and Firestrike enters the witness protection program.[3]

Dark Reign

The members of Heavy Mettle appear as members of Norman Osborn's new Shadow Initiative, a group of super-powered beings intended by Osborn to be expendable.[4] They accompany the team to liberate the Negative Zone prison. Some members of Heavy Mettle are reported killed or incapacitated (Butterball estimates half the team), although Stronghold and Warbow are shown to be alive at the end of the mission.[5]

The surviving members of Heavy Mettle joined in the Siege of Asgard. Warbow is killed, ironically, in a hail of arrows.[6]
