Heatherdale is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Heatherdale, on the Lilydale and Belgrave railway lines. Heatherdale is classed as a Host Station and is in Metcard Zone 2.
Facilities
Heatherdale is located at the western end of the Heatherdale Road level crossing, with station access from Forster Street and Heatherdale Road.
The station consists of two side platforms; Platform 1 has a customer service office, a stainless steel seating area and toilet facilities, all under the cover of a steel and glass roof, while platform 2 has a stainless steel seating area under a similar roof. A large Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accepts notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to platform 2, as well as at the entrance to platform 1.
There are three separate car parking areas that serve Heatherdale station. One is just to the north of platform 2 and is accessible from Heatherdale Road. A second car park is beside the railway line on the eastern side of Heatherdale Road, stretching towards EastLink and has been redeveloped as part of its project. The Heatherdale Road entrance will no longer serve as an exit but a new section has been added between the railway and Maroondah Highway and will provide the exit and a new entrance. A third parking area surrounds the power transmission pylons on Molan Street. A fourth car park, accessed from Newman Street, opened in June 2013 to replace the ones being closed at Mitcham Station as part of the Mitcham Road crossing removal works [1]
As part of the EastLink tollway project, Heatherdale station, along with Kananook have been upgraded. The works were funded by ConnectEast. Upgrades to Heatherdale Station included extra parking spaces, upgraded lighting and security measures, a new pedestrian crossing at Heatherdale Road and construction of new station buildings. The original station buildings have been demolished and the new buildings are now completed. New lighting and signage have also been installed along the platforms.
