Hautmont is a commune in the Nord department in northern France.
It is 5 km (3.1 mi) southwest of the centre of Maubeuge, and has 16,000 residents.
In August 2008, several people were killed and more injured by an EF4 tornado which swept through the town. Many buildings were damaged and three people died.[1] The tornado also affected Maubeuge, Neuf-Mesnil and Boussières-sur-Sambre.
