Handsworth Football Club is an English football club based in Handsworth, a suburb of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. They play in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior Football League Premier Division.

History

The club was established in 2003 and joined the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League. In 2004–05 they finished third in Division Two,[1] and were promoted to Division One. In 2007–08 they won Division One,[2] and were promoted to the Premier Division. In 2009–10 they finished third in the Premier Division,[3] and were promoted to Division One of the Northern Counties East League, winning the league in the 2011–12 season. However, Handworth were not able to be promoted to the Premier Division due to ground grading issues[4] and the club opted to move down a league to Step 7 for the 2012–13 season with an ambition to regain its place in the NCEL when its ground meets the required standard, assuming it can finish in a qualifying place in Step 7.[5] The Club's U19 side have been the North Midlands league Champions for a record 4 seasons on the trot 2008–09, 2009–10, 2010–11 & 2011–12.[citation needed]
