Hakon Adelsteen Sommerfeldt

Håkon Adelsteen Sommerfeldt (25 January 1811 22 January 1888) was a Norwegian naval officer and ships designer.[1]

He was born in Gausdal. His first ship design was the wheeler Nordcap from 1840. He was a co-designer of USS Princeton from 1843, along with John Ericsson. He published several books on ships construction, including Om Handelsskibes Construction from 1845, and Haandbog for practisk Skibsbyggeri from 1855. He was decorated Knight of the Order of St. Olav in 1854.[2][3]
