Habibganj is a suburb in Bhopal, India, in the BHEL township in the city of Bhopal. It is notable for the Bhopal Habibganj Railway Station, the second busiest station in the city after the Bhopal Junction.

Etymology

In Hindustani, Habibganj means The Lovely City. This name was given by the Begum Of Bhopal, when she was greatly influenced by the greenery and water resources of Bhopal City.

Points of interest

The most important point of interest of this region is the Bhopal Habibganj Railway Station. Major upgrades to the station are planned.[1]

It is India's First ISO 9001 certified railway station with stoppage and headquarters of many trains. The station is the headquarter of the famous Shaan - E - Bhopal Express (The pride of Bhopal), India's first ISO:9001:2000 certified train. Besides the Bhopal Express, there are six trains, having starting and termination point at Habibganj.

Habibganj is a 5 minutes drive from the commercial area of new Bhopal - Panda (P) Nagar. MP Nagar has a lots of hotels and restaurants including Surendra Vilas, Residency and Amer Palace. Some renowned restaurants in MP Nagar include Arya Bhavan, Milan, Amer bakery Hut and the quintessential Pizza Hut.

Some others include Taj restaurant, Sulabh Restaurant, Shan-E-Habib Hotel and Indian Coffee House.
