Football career
Starting off at Fuente Álamo, then with Real Murcia, Héctor finished his football grooming at neighbours FC Cartagena. In 2006 he made his first appearances for the main squad, in Segunda División B.
After one year loaned at lowly AD Las Palas Héctor returned to Cartagena, helping it return to Segunda División in the 2008–09 season and finishing the campaign in the starting XI after a coaching move.
