Gymnothorax nudivomer is a Moray Eel from the Indo-Pacific.
Information
The Gymnothorax nudivomer occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 180cm in length. [1] The common English names of the Gymnothorax nudivomer are the Starry moray or the Yellow-mouthed moray eel.[2] It can be found in a marine environment within a tropical climate. It is recorded to live in reef-associated areas. This species can be found in the Red Sea, Transkei, South Africa, the Hawaiian and Marquesan islands, Ryukyu Islands, and south to New Caledonia. It is known for this species to occupy inner and outer reef slopes. This species can be utilized for aquarium and commercial uses. [1] The mouth of the Gymnothorax nudivomer is bright yellow, and the openings by the gils are dark colored. Its body is light brown with white spots, and its teeth are arranged in a row on both of its jaws. [3] This species is also recorded to secrete toxins from its skin. [4] Not only is the toxin found in the skin, but it also found in its mucus. [5]
