It was first named by Böhlke and McCosker in 2001 and is more commonly known as the Southern moray eel.[1] It likes a moderate temperature, only lives in the ocean and it is a demersal fish, meaning that it leaves near or on the bottom of the ocean. The maximum length discovered was a female at 88.2 cm long.[2] [3]
