Gwynne Pugh
Gwynne Pugh is a Welsh architect who until 2010 was a partner of Pugh + Scarpa. He is known for his use of environmentally sound architecture and alternative energy in his designs.[1][2]
Biography
Pugh was born in Cardiff, Wales and raised in Greece and Turkey.[3] He made his way to the University of Leeds where he took an engineering degree. Pugh then attended UCLA for architecture. In 1984 he established his first business, working out his garage to create bridges, remodels, and a Disneyland hotel. He met Lawrence Scarpa in 1988, and together they founded Pugh + Scarpa in 1991.[3][4] Gwynne departed the company in 2010 to establish Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio.[4] He stated that he departed his old partnership because he was more interested in focusing on urban design than he was allowed to in the partnership.[4]
